Can I delete or pause a memory in an AI companion?

Short answer

Yes. A durable memory should not become a permanent sentence about you. You should be able to edit it, pause it, reduce how much it is used, or delete it.

A saved memory can become stale

Preferences are not laws. A relationship changes, a project ends, a routine disappears, or you simply stop wanting a particular context to shape the conversation.

If old memory cannot be revised, continuity eventually becomes distortion.

Reversibility is part of the product

In Xiara, memories remain visible in one place. You can change the wording, pause a memory without deleting it, ask Xiara to use it less, or remove it entirely.

That makes memory a tool you manage rather than a profile you are trapped inside.
